This Mother’s Day, Give the Gift of Presence, Connection, and Shared Discovery

There are moments in life that quietly define everything, the kind you do not fully understand while you are living them, but later realize they shaped who you became, how you love, and what you choose to build.

For me, that moment was not a single event, it was a rhythm, a way of life, a suitcase always half packed, a small hand in mine, and a heart that somehow lived outside of my body.

Her name is Sophia.

She is my daughter, my greatest achievement, and the reason Tranquil Escapes exists.

I am a mother, a daughter, a sister, a woman who grew up between the United States and Sweden, always feeling like part of me belonged to more than one place. That duality became a gift, it taught me how to see the world not just as destinations, but as living, breathing cultures, as stories waiting to be felt, tasted, and remembered.

Sophia received her first passport at one year old.

Before she could fully speak, she was already experiencing the world, the sounds of different languages, the comfort of family in Sweden, the excitement of discovering somewhere new. Travel was never just a vacation for us, it was how we lived, how we connected, how we created our own sense of home.

When she was four, our lives shifted. I became a single mother.

Like many women, I stepped into survival mode. I worked multiple jobs, I showed up, I did what needed to be done. But if I am honest, my heart was never fully there. There was always a quiet knowing inside of me, a pull toward something more meaningful, more aligned.

And I kept coming back to one thing, travel.

Not as an escape, but as a return.

A return to myself, a return to presence, a return to my relationship with my daughter.

In between responsibilities and long days, we found our way back to each other on airplanes, on quiet mornings in unfamiliar places, in shared meals, in laughter, in the simplicity of being together without distraction. We visited family in Sweden, grounding ourselves in where we came from, and we explored new destinations that expanded how we saw the world and ourselves within it.

Those experiences did something powerful.

They strengthened our bond in ways that everyday life rarely allows. They gave Sophia a childhood rooted not just in routine, but in wonder, curiosity, and connection. They shaped her into who she is becoming, and they shaped me into the mother I wanted to be.

Travel became one of the most sacred spaces we shared.

It taught me that connection is not something you find more time for, it is something you choose, intentionally.

It showed me that some of the most valuable things in life will never carry a price tag, yet they hold a worth far deeper than anything material. The feeling of watching your child experience something for the first time, the conversations that happen when there are no distractions, the quiet understanding that grows between two people who have walked through different seasons of life together.

This is the foundation Tranquil Escapes was built on.

Not just luxury travel, not just beautiful destinations, but meaningful experiences that reconnect you to what truly matters. Experiences that honor the environment, respect local cultures, and give back to the places that hold your memories. Regenerative travel that does not just take from the world, but contributes to its healing, while also creating space for your own.

Because travel, when done with intention, can be transformative.

It can heal relationships, deepen love, and remind us of who we are beneath the noise of everyday life.

Motherhood, in all its forms, carries that same energy.

Whether you are a mother, a daughter, an aunt, a grandmother, or a woman who holds space and love for others, there is something profoundly sacred about nurturing life, about guiding, protecting, and witnessing growth. It is not defined by biology alone, it is defined by presence, by care, by the willingness to love deeply and evolve together through every season.

This Mother’s Day, there is an opportunity to honor that in a way that goes beyond flowers or gifts that fade.

To offer something lasting.

The gift of connection.

The gift of shared experience.

The gift of time spent discovering something new, together.

Imagine gifting your mother, or a woman who has shaped your life, an experience where you are both fully present, exploring a new place, sharing conversations you have not had in years, creating memories that become part of your family’s story. Imagine what it means to step away from routine and into something that allows you to see each other again, not just in your roles, but as individuals.

This is how legacies are built!

Not through things, but through moments.

Through stories that are passed down, through experiences that become part of who we are and how we remember each other.

At Tranquil Escapes, every itinerary is created with this intention, to offer more than travel, to offer transformation, connection, and a deeper sense of purpose. Whether it is a thoughtfully designed preplanned guide or a fully personalized journey, each experience is curated to align with regenerative values, supporting both your well being and the well being of the places you visit.
